Sets and their connectors
1)
?Is an element of?()
If an object ?x? is a member of a set A or belongs to a set A, then we write. If it is not a member we write
2) Finite / Infinite Set
M = {1, 2, 3} è Finite
N = {2, 4, 6 ?} è Infinite
P = {x | x is a river on Earth} è Finite
3) Equality of sets
Set A is equal to Set B if they both have the same members A = B
Example: Which of the sets are equal?
E = {x | x2-3x = 2}
F = {2, 1}
G = {1, 2, 2, 1}
E = F = G
4)
Empty or Null Set ()
This is where the set is empty or is undefined.
Example 1: B = {x | x2 = 4, x is odd}
B =
Example 2:
5) Subset
6) Universal Set
7) Disjoint Set
8) Set Operations with Venn Diagrams
